New Hampshire On Skis

**Due to snowstorm coming in this week - NH of Skies will be held on Monday January 30th at 5pm**

❄️❄️ "Cover it with snow and shake, and you have all the makings of a unique New Hampshire history." ❄️❄️

By taking Scandinavian and Austrian immigrants, the Dartmouth Outing Club, the Cannon Mountain Tramway, the muscular Christian, amateur tinkerers, and Professor E. John B. Allen will make you want to hit the slopes.

Retired in 1997 from being a Professor of History at Plymouth State University for 29 years, E. John Allen has also been awarded the International Skiing History Association's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. He has served as a historian for the New England Ski Museum in Franconia, and is the author of several books, including From Skisport to Skiing: One Hundred Years of an American SportThe Culture and Sport of Skiing from Antiquity to World War II, and A Historical Dictionary of Skiing, Skiing in the Eye of the Artist, and Traveling the Old Ski Tracks of New England. Professor John Allen has served as a consultant to several ski history documentary films as well.

We do have a few of Professor John Allen's books in our catalog for patrons to check out.

This program is sponsored in part by New Hampshire Humanities and is free and open to the public.
